    1. Coastal and Marine Economics


    In this research area, the economics of pollution, natural resource economics, and environmental valuation methods are studied, with a focus on the coastal and marine environment. Topics such as the economics of climate change, public policies for the sea, biodiversity use and conservation, economic assessment of environmental and human impacts, natural resource exploitation, economic studies of productive sectors (oil, gas, fishing, and tourism), and economic analyses of the impacts of policies related to the consolidation of naval and port hubs in coastal and marine development in the country are investigated.

    2. Social Welfare Economics

    This research area covers topics that involve problems related to society and that are directly or indirectly associated with issues of economic and social efficiency. The studies developed in this area discuss topics such as: (i) security, (ii) poverty, (iii) labor market, (iv) health, (v) environmental and natural resource economics, and (vi) sustainable regional development.
